A psychological evaluation consists of a variety of testing procedures to measure psychological traits and behavior or for studying a specific aspect of ability. A full psychological evaluation usually consists of a cognitive evaluation and an emotional evaluation to fully understand how an individual is functioning in the world, both intellectually and emotionally.
We conduct Psychological Tests tailored to the specific individual needs. The results of these tests are a significant measure to make a diagnosis.
We use assessment measures that are standardized for the particular need and population group. We use the latest versions of the tests that are specifically designed to help make an accurate diagnosis.
All evaluations are done by our qualified psychologists. All our psychologists have doctoral degrees and are licensed by the state board. Please take a look at the About Us page for a detailed profile.
We ask you to fill up a detailed questionnaire which includes information about symptoms in different settings. If needed, we also consult with the family members, school staff, therapists, tutors , physician and any other people who have a significant role. If we feel the need, we also observe the child in school/home settings.
We complete the testing in 1 day or spread over multiple sessions based on the individual needs.
Children generally enjoy evaluations, because they are getting a good deal of individual attention. Parts of the evaluation consist of tasks children generally find enjoyable, such as drawing, puzzles, and making up stories. At the same time, they will probably be tired after the evaluation, just because they are spending so much time interacting with one adult. It is best to tell them that the evaluation is made up of a bunch of activities, and a lot of them are fun. Furthermore, tell them this is something that gives us information on how the child is doing, and on what their strengths are, so that we all know how to help them better.
Usually, the report is ready within 2 weeks of the testing completion date. Once the report is ready, we schedule a feedback session. At the feedback session we discuss the report with you and answer your questions.
We do not prescribe medication, but use effective psychological treatment methods to help our clients overcome their particular problem. However, if we do feel the need for medication, we will provide you with a referral to a prescribing physician.
We do accept most of the major insurance plans, Please contact us to confirm about your specific plan. If we do not accept your plan, we will be happy to help you get reimbursed. We will provide you with the procedure codes and a receipt which you can file with your insurance company directly and get reimbursed.
